Workshop with Alejandro Chaoul and Fabio Andrico

The two scholars will introduce their knowledge and experience, also as instructors worldwide in the field of Yoga, especially in the Tibetan Tradition and Breathwork.
Common ground and differentiating elements will be outlined, also referring to the books published respectively.
An interactive discussion will be opened with the attendees.
The workshop with Alejandro Chaoul and Fabio Andrico hopes to contribute to pave the way for future collaboration both in the scientific research field and in the field of the health promotion research and practice according to WHO Ottawa Charter, reminding that the salutogenic paradigm is a characteristic common to all the Traditional Medicine and related Health Care Education and Processes.

Alejandro Chaoul-Reich, Ph.D. has studied in the Tibetan Traditions since 1989, including with Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, and for nearly 30 years in the Bön Tradition with Yongdzin Tenzin Lopon Namdak Rinpoche, His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche, and Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.
He holds a Ph.D. in Tibetan Religions from Rice University and he is the director of the Mind Body Spirit Institute at the Jung Center of Houston, Texas.
He is senior teacher for Ligmincha International and for The 3 Doors: transforming lives through meditation.
For the last 20 years, particularly at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, he has been teaching and researching the benefits of Tibetan mind-body practices in oncology.
Dr. Chaoul has 35 research articles indexed under Scopus database of peer-reviewed literature, and 21 articles indexed under PubMed (the scientific database of the United States National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health).
His research covers several topics, from Tibetan Yoga to Mindfulness, from Social Science to Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology.
Alejandro Chaoul is a Contemplative Fellow at the Mind & Life Institute, and is the author of “Chöd Practice in the Bön Tradition” (Snow Lion, 2009), “Tibetan Yoga for Health & Well-Being” (Hay House, 2018), and the recently published “Tibetan Yoga: Magical Movements of Body, Breath, and Mind” (Wisdom Publications, November, 2021), and the online courses "Meditation, Breath & Movement: External, Internal and Secret Tsa Lung" (Ligmincha Learning) and "Tibetan Yoga" (Wisdom Academy).

Fabio Andrico has been teaching Yoga internationally for over 40 years.
Fabio has been learning, practicing, teaching, and writing about Yantra Yoga since the late 1970s when he studied Shivananda Yoga during a trip to India. In the following years, Fabio was exposed to many different yoga traditions.
He ultimately met his root teacher, Dzogchen Master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu (1938-2018), and had the rare opportunity and privilege to learn the Tibetan Tradition of Yantra Yoga directly from this lineage holder.
Fabio got his graduation in Oriental Studies at the University of Naples “L’Orientale,” with Prof. Namkhai Norbu.
Fabio is both a Hatha Yoga and Yantra Yoga instructor, as well as the senior authorized trainer of Yantra Yoga teachers.
He has been teaching courses, workshops, and teacher trainings in many counties around the world including China, Japan, Europe, Russia, South and North America, in many different centers of DC and other well known venues including Kripalu, Esalen, and Yoga Tree in the USA and Yoga Federation in Russia, to groups of up to 700 participants.
Drawing on decades of experience, he developed “Respira”, a comprehensive method of breathworking for learning how to breathe smoothly and consciously for health and wellbeing.
Fabio compiles this method in the book “Breathe As You Are” (Shang Shung Publications, 2017).
He teaches it internationally with the support of a growing team of accredited instructors.
Andrico has appeared in videos such as “BreAthe, The Perfect Harmony of Breathing” (Shang Shung Publications, 2011), “The Eight Movements of Yantra Yoga” (Shang Shung Publications, 2017), and “Tibetan Yoga of Movement, Levels 1 and 2” (Shang Shung Publications, 2011), “Kumbhaka Training Course” (Shang Shung Publications, 2015), collaborated on the book “Yantra Yoga: The Tibetan Yoga of Movement” (Shang Shung Publications, 2008) and also co-authored with Chögyal Nakhai Norbu the book “Tibetan Yoga of Movement, The Art and Practice of Yantra Yoga” (Shang Shung Publications, 2013).
